My weight loss journey began from the time I was born. I was born premature and underweight however that did not last long. Growing up I was always the chubby kid, or the child with big bones. I wanted to be sent off to a fat camp and then everything would be good. I spent the rest of my life searching for the answer and could not understand. My sister never had a weight problem and I was eating the same things she was, why was I the chubby one. I have been on every crash diet or as scene on TV quick weight loss gimmick you could find.

In February 2009 I went to eh doctor and explained that I was working on losing weight but it was not working. He was nice enough to run some test and check to make sure no medical reasons were causing me not to lose weight. To no surprise when the results came back, I was fine except for the high cholesterol and blood pressure. He put it to me plain and simple you have to eat less and exercise and told me the equation has not changed. This equation has eluded me for years and I just could not understand.

So I began to exercise a little but was scared of the gym and really just once again wanted that easy fix. I lost some weight and then gained most of it back. In January a friend of mine told me about the “TOTAL BODY CHALLEGE” and asked if I wanted to enter and I said sure. I read the information online and laughed at the people saying that they worked out twice a day because that would not be me. January 31, 2009 was the first meeting and I weighed in at 207 pounds. CJ talked to the group and handed us the information to take home and study. I went home and read the information and my head began to spin. I felt like the book was written in a different language and everyone was speaking this language but me.

The next Saturday was the first workout and I thought I was going to die, I cannot believe they were going to push us this hard. I finally realized I needed more help than just the once a week workout sessions and hired a trainer. I knew it was not needed but it was needed for me. I began with the trainer and was starting to understand a few things and as the weeks went by the words that they were saying were becoming familiar. I went to DSD for the first time and met Ryan, and he was so nice to sit and talk to me and help me understand more of what was going on. As the weeks went by I kept increasing my cardio and I was one of the two times a day people that I had previously talked about.

CJ, Jenn, Loren, and Stacy advised us that we would be running the Falcon 5K. At that point I knew that they had gone crazy. I was overweight with asthma and you want me to run a 5k? After the falcon 5k I began training with one of the trainers and that was when I hit the next level. Everyone at the gym was so supportive of the TOTAL BODY CHALLEGE crew, that I had someone working with me. The trainer pushed me to new levels and allowed me to be me. I had problems looking at myself in the mirror or being scarred of an exercise but I got through it. Today with all the support of the trainers and staff I am down 43 POUNDS and feel great. I can’t wait to keep going and to see else I can achieve on this journey.
